Trier Medical
Trier was founded by emergency department professionals with a mission to revolutionise patient information collection, making the process safer and faster for those visiting the ED. Despite their vision, limited budget and resources posed significant challenges in developing their initial app, especially given the complex technical, political, and stakeholder landscape they faced.
Vision: To deliver integrated emergency medicine characterised by empathy, clear communication with patients, informed decision-making for clinical staff, and enhanced waiting room safety.
Challenges in Emergency Medicine:
For Patients:
Lack of privacy
Long waiting times
Limited communication and transparency
Repetitive explanations of medical issues to multiple staff members
For Clinical Staff:
Feeling overwhelmed and under-resourced
Difficulty managing waiting room safety
Incomplete or inaccurate patient information
Patient flow bottlenecks
Imminently’s Role
Trier partnered with Imminently to bring their vision to life. Through a comprehensive approach, Imminently refined both the patient and clinician experience, aligned the product with user expectations, and addressed branding, corporate functions, and the overall product roadmap. In just 12 weeks, Imminently transformed Trier from a basic app into a robust, production-ready platform suitable for hospital environments. This transformation included a complete technical overhaul, service design strategy, user experience redesign, rigorous user testing, and successful deployment with round-the-clock support, all while managing key hospital and government stakeholders.
Solution: A human-centred platform designed to enhance ED waiting room safety and facilitate better communication between clinicians and patients. Key features include:
Digital observations and alerts for risks of acute deterioration
Enhanced patient privacy and minimised repetition
An emergency distress button for improved patient safety
Real-time waiting time updates for patients
Seamless communication between patients and clinical staff
My responsibilities:
I joined the Imminently team when the Trier product had a strong foundation but required further development. Leveraging the existing design system, I refined process flows, designed and implemented new features to improve patient privacy and communication, and maintained a cohesive and polished UI. Collaborating closely with clients, clinicians, and developers, I delivered user-focused enhancements that aligned seamlessly with technical requirements, driving Trier’s mission of safer and more efficient emergency care forward.
